I would like to give my condolences to Gene`s family and friends.I had the pleasure of working with Gene at Sears warehouse in the late 70`s.He kind of planted an idea in me one cold winter night after the warehouse was closed by letting me drive a delivery truck with him. It took almost another decade before i landed a job as a truck driver. Today i have 28 years of truck driving behind me and im on my way to Cal. from Toronto as i write this.So in a way Gene played a big role in my life and im sorry we lost touch after my stint at Sears ended. He was a real fireball and im sure in his way he did a lot of good in this world and will be greatly missed.Best wishes,Chuck Taylor

I remember Gene from Canterbury, he taught me to skate on the outdoor rink there and as I remember it took awhile. He had great patience. I looked him up in Saint John in 1980 or 1981 just before I went west. He was always smiling, always kind.

So sorry for your loss. I am the youngest daughter of Cecil. I recall hearing many stories from my father about his siblings. I'm saddened to say I didn't get the chance to meet Uncle Eugene but I have faith that he's in a much happier place now with his predeceased loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Sara and Matthew, I am so sorry for your loss. Some of my memories I would like to share with you. Your Dad, at one time held full contact self defense classes which I participated in at the Carleton Community Center West Side, I also played fast ball against your Dad in Saint John. We became great friends and unfortunately opportunities with my career sent me to BC and we kind of lost touch, geographical reasons only. Having suffered a loss myself very recently, I can only say that time heals a bit of the sharp pain, however, keeping open dialect between family and friends is the only true way to heal (its okay to cry for as long as it takes) Please reach out if I can do anything for you and your family.
