Heather, Gord and Nancy Black and families
Dearest Ruth, Brian and David, we all have such fond memories of “Uncle” Ralph stopping in for a visit while passing through Montreal when we were kids. His love for family and community was always apparent and we enjoyed visits with family in Moncton over the years. He continued to to check in with us all regularly after our Dad died in ‘96. A very special man who has blessed so many with his kindness, generosity, loyalty and of course the “Black” sense of humour. With love, Heather, Gord and Nancy

So sad to learn of Ralph’s passing ! We are in Florida but are thinking of you all ! He was such a wonderful man and I will dearly miss our visits at Shoppers.
It's odd how weddings and funerals bring people together. Mom told me this 'news' and it brought back a flood of good memories: putting a hole in the green cloth on the pool table and your Dad didn't react too badly; riding bikes with abandon; chasing down the dirt road at your cottage by Stratton's; being invited out of the kitchen by your Mom, who had yummy snacks; the 'men' arriving at the house on Gordon Street all dressed up for a fancy dinner at the fancily set dining room table; your Mom looking amazing in that long fur coat; hanging out with Brian, Brent and John at Dal; hearing your Mom complain (again) that the terrier dug another whole in the yard. It's a long list, and a good list: your Dad would have liked that. I think he's reading this, and smiling now. I'm thinking of all of you with warm wishes, and hopes for good days ahead. Big hug, Joanne
Mr Black (never Ralph!) was an amazing man. A true gentleman, he shared his many skills freely with those who asked - and he was often asked. He was a wonderful example to my sisters and me and we will miss him greatly. When he and Dad got together on the cottage veranda you never knew if they were talking about a recent case or planning their next hijink Mother Martin was one of their frequent targets and Mr. Black was the instigator. We will all miss him. We have lost a member of our family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
The Rev. Canon David Barrett
I am so sorry for your loss. I served on the Bible Society Board with Ralph and he served on hospital committees with my father. He was a wonderful man, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Irene, Brian and David...we offer our most sincere condolences. Ralph was a true servant of Jesus. He served others with humility and kindness. We have had great dialogue over many years. He gave selflessly of himself and his resources to better the things he care deeply about. God bless you and give strength and peace for each day as you travel through this journey of grief and mixed emotions. We will be praying for you.
