(Life is beautiful)

St-Édouard-de-Kent, NB – Gérard LeBlanc, 85, passed away peacefully at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC, Moncton, surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday April 4, 2018.

Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Alphée and Herméline (born Hébert) LeBlanc.

Gérard will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Colette (born Lafontaine) of St.-Édouard-de-Kent; by his two daughters, Anne of Moncton and Natalie (Gary) of Dieppe; by his two brothers, Léonard of Bouctouche and Yvon (Claire) of Moncton; by his three sisters, Marcella (late Maurice) Thorburn of Grande-Digue, Yolande Hébert (Paul) and Norma LeBlanc all of Moncton; by his three grandchildren, Liule, Magkda and Bilen; also by several nephews and nieces.

Gérard was a pharmaceutical representative with British Drug Houses for several years in Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa, Ontario.

In 1972, Gérard and his family moved to Moncton. He became involved and founded L’Association des scouts du Canada and he became the first commissioner. In 1984, he received the Vanier Medal for his devotion to scouting from the late Governor General, Jeanne Sauvé.

Gérard was very active at different levels with the Knights of Columbus. He founded many councils throughout the province and he is a former Master of the Fourth Degree for N.B. from 1985 to 1990.

For many years, he also gave public speaking courses in both languages.

In 1999, he graduated from l’Université de Moncton with a Bachelor Degree In Arts – speciality in History. He was so proud when he received his degree.

Gérard worked for the federal government for 17 years with the Department of Secretary of State.

Our deepest thanks to the staff and especially Rhéal Guimond at the extra-mural of Kent County, the emergency staff and Doctor Landry at the Stella Maris Hospital, Ste Anne de Kent and Doctors Parker and Saulnier and the staff at 4F and 3C in palliative for the care and compassion given to Gérard during his stay.

To our 2 angels – Léona Belliveau and Annette Thibault – you will always have a special place in our hearts and be part of our family for being there for him.

Our time here is only for a little while. God promises, through faith in Jesus, that we will live forever. Isaiah 40:6-8. Until then dad, we will miss you.

As per Gérard’s wishes, there will be no visitations and no funeral service.

Donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
