James Douglas Steele
1948 ~ 2021
Shediac, NB ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Steele, he was born in 1948 in Dorchester, New Brunswick.
James will be greatly missed by his family and friends and especially his son Greg, sisters Ruthie (Paul), Viola (Wayne) and brother Bobbi (Kathy). James was predeceased by his parents Leroy and Nettie, sister Cathy, brother Reggie, brother Randy and most recently his loving partner Sharon Leblanc. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle James.
James had a very eclectic background starting out in Air Force training where he got his pilot’s license, to teaching school to selling vacuum cleaners (and boy did he ever ).His last 30 years he and his partner Sharon ran special care homes that supported adults with mental illness, where he retired from.
James was smart, outgoing, athletic, loved sports, cards, getting together with friends and family, good food and maybe an occasional drink of Rye. He loved his time at the beach and Cape Brule. James lived life to the fullest. He was kind, caring and would always do his best to help a friend or family member in need, even if it was just a chat. James would want us all to remember the great times, the conversations we had, the songs we sung, (maybe even a Beach Boys tune) the hugs we shared and the times we had together.
The family would like to thank all of those family and friends who provided such thoughtful and gracious support to James. Whether it was a home cooked meal dropped off, a drive to an appointment, some shopping, a check in, a phone call or day to day support, it was so greatly appreciated.
There will be no formal service or funeral but there will be a celebration of life with his family at a future date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family invites you to sign an online book of condolences at: www.funerairepassagefuneral.ca.
