Scoudouc, N.B. – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mario Bourgeois, 58, on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton.
Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Léo-Paul Bourgeois and Francine Bourgeois (Goguen).
Mario devoted most of his life to social work and volunteerism in the Moncton area. Later, he ventured into entrepreneurship and founded an event center and art gallery, La Teraz, located on Church Street in Moncton. A few years later, Mario was living in Mérida, Mexico, where he continued his social support and volunteer work.
He is survived by his husband, Jacky; his mother, Francine; his uncles: Jean-Paul (Martial), Roger (Carmella), Guy (the late Gertrude), Maurice (Louise), Joseph (Cécilia); his aunt Irma; his godmother Florence; as well as several cousins—not to mention his little dog, Raku.
He was predeceased by his father, Léo-Paul (2021); his brother, Marc (2021); his uncle, Donald; and his grandparents, Rita and Simeon
There will be no visitation or funeral service.

I send my deepest condolences to Jacky, and to Mario’s extended family. I was blessed to meet Jacky and Mario when I first discovered Merida several years ago and rented their beautiful home. We became friends and have enjoyed many visits over the years whenever I return to Merida. I am grateful for Mario’s kind and loving heart and grateful for his friendship. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Mario when I was a youth at 15 and years later reconnected with him as an adult in my early 30s. He welcomed me warmly again and became a great friend, on top of a cherished youth memory. He gave me a job, he gave me advice and he gave me support. I am devastated by this loss and can only imagine what his family and friends are going through. My heart is with you and I will always cherish my memories of Mario.
Oh dear Mario, I was just thinking about you the other day missing the roar of your motorcycle in my driveway. I’ll miss you terribly my dear friend. I’ll always cherish the moment I met you at La Teraz, the moments we spent together 3 years ago in Merida, and our long conversations during your visits to Moncton.
You were so happy telling me that you got your little dog Raku not too long ago.
You are a gentle and kind soul. Rest in Peace my dear friend. With all my ❤️
