At the Dr Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre on Friday, January 21, 2022 passed away peacefully Adrien Desjardins of Moncton, formally of Dieppe and Shediac. Born in Lowell, Mass., he was the son of the late Frank Desjardins and the late Julie Bernier.
Adrien is survived by his wife of 69 years Bernice Landry, his three children: Jacques (Nicole Côté) of Montréal, Françoise and Caroline (Gerry Goguen) both of Dieppe; five grandchildren: Mathieu (Tanya Monger) of Grande-Digue, Michel (Marie-Hélène Daigle) of Dieppe, Christian and Rémy of Dieppe, Francis of Montréal and three great-grandchildren: Olivia and Evelyn of Grande-Digue and Philippe of Dieppe; his brothers and sister: Mgr Eymard of Edmundston, Reverand Fernand of Saint-Boniface, Mathilde (Ronald Biron) of Laval; he is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Merville (late Marguerite), Murielle (Irené), Jean-Guy (Emma), Imelda (late Clorice), Victorine (late Antoine), Antoinette (late Gérald), Florine (late Raymond), Alfreda (late Alfred); as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five brothers: Guy (late Simone Bernier), Gérard (late Noëlla Frenette), Alphonse, Léonide (late Corine Godbout), and Alyre (late Georgette Bérubé).
Adrien started elementary school in Grand Falls where his family settled; he received a B.A. from the Université du Sacré-Cœur in Bathurst, and studied at Quebec’s Laval University. In 1947, he started a 35‑year teaching career in his province’s public school system.
In memory of Adrien, donations can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation.
Anyone wishing to offer a mass in Adrien’s name may contact the Sainte-Thérèse Parish, in Dieppe.
A commemorative service will be held on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 11:00am at Sainte-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant Jésus RC church, 160 Ste-Thérèse Road, Dieppe, NB.
