Alcide “Karate Man” Bourque, 90, of Grande-Digue, passed away suddenly on Monday, January 2nd, 2023.

Born in Cap-de-Cocagne, NB, he was the son of the late Fred and the late Anna (Hébert) Bourque.

Prior to his retirement, Alcide owned a karate business, he was the instructor and held a 6th degree, black belt.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elizabeth (Landry) Bourque; his son, Robert Bourque (late Anne); his grandchildren: Greg and Jason; his great grandchildren: Kenzie, Nixon, Lucas and Emerick; his sisters: Doris Landry of Grande-Digue and Jeannine Gallant of Shediac; his brother, Adrien Bourque of Grande-Digue, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Simonne LeBlanc and by his brother, Lorenzo Bourque.

Visitation will be held from Passage, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, (506) 532-1050, on Friday, January 6th, 2023, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Saturday, January 7th, 2023, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.

Funeral mass will be held from La Visitation RC Church, Grande-Digue, NB, on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at 11 am.

In Alcide’s memory, a donation can be made to “Pépére Boite à Lunch”.

  2. My deepest condolences to all family members. I will always remember Alcide when he came to the school to lease the gym for his classes. He was always in good spirits, brought me blueberries that he picked himself and often made me laugh. I will miss him Rest in peace Alcide 🙏

  14. Shihan Alcide was my first karate instructor, when I was 14 yrs in 1971. After more than 40 yrs in karate, I never forgot him, and will always respect his knowledge, and the great man he was. Osu, Shihan Bourque.

  19. It is hard to believe, this man who has touched so many people is gone to be an angel. I know of many people who would not be where they are today if not for him and his karate. He not only taught Karate he taught life lessons at the same time. You will be missed Sensi Bourque, Thank you and rest in peace.   32. As one of his former karate students I’m glad I had the opportunity to learn from him as a kid. I looked up to him as a larger than life figure that I had the upmost respect for , I was sad to hear about your passing i wished that I could’ve said thank you for all you’ve done .     très discipliné et aussi très généreux. Ses élèves ne pourront jamais l’oublier. Qu’il repose en paix dans sa nouvelle demeure avec la Vierge qu’il aimait.
