Aldoria (Al or Aldo) Gallant passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on August 17, 2026 at age 79. His beloved wife, Lynn passed away in August 2024.
His 2 stepdaughters in Edmonton are Colleen Cairney and Barb Milligan. Sadly, their brother and Al’s stepson, Jeff had passed away before his mother, Lynn. Al also had 4 step-grandchildren named Travis, Colton, Breanne and Kenny who called him Poppa. Al also loved and was loved by numerous nieces and nephews near and far.
Al was the son of late Albert and Elodie Gallant in Moncton. He will be dearly missed by his surviving family siblings Daniel Gallant (Marc Éric Fortin), Diane(a) (Maurice) LeBlanc, Phyllis Gallant (friend Lionel) Maggie (John) Melanson, Yvon Gallant (friend Nathalie), and Flo (Walter) Agnew. He was pre-deceased by 2 of his sisters who both died in April, 2020. Gisele Dixon (late Barry) and Claudette Hebert (Georges) as well as his brother, Clarence (Mary-Louise). Clarence died in December 2013.
Al joined the Canadian Armed Forces while still in his teens. He was assigned to various bases in Canada before being assigned to terms in Europe and the Suez. On his return to Canada, he transferred to the Canadian Airborne Regiment where he loved jumping out of airplanes that were still capable of flying. Following service at various bases in Canada, Al retired and moved to Moncton where he enjoyed a few years working in the provincial court system before relocating to Edmonton, Alberta. Not content to simply enjoy his well earned retirement, he decided he would start driving school buses, a task which he enjoyed for many years.
While in the hospital this last time he asked his doctor if he could leave the hospital so that he could make one last trip with the kids which the doctor declined.
There was no service at Al request. May he rest in peace.

Mes sincères sympathies à toute la famille et amies
Condolences to the family and friends. I am a distant cousin who knew the family, older siblings went to my school in Moncton a long time ago, especially Florine. I’m impressed with all his accomplishments, may he rest in peace.
Phyllis, Flo, Maggie and all the others so sorry to read of your brother passing away. Sincere sympathy!
My deepest sympathy to the family.
Our deepest sympathy to all the family from a friend who joined the 22 regiment at the same time. Served in Werl Germany from 64 to 67. RIP my dear friend Emile & Florence Girouard 💔
This is Aldo’s sister Diane. I want to apologize for noting the wrong year of death for my sisters Gisele and Claudette. They actually both passed away in April 2021 (less than 3 weeks apart). I will take this opportunity to express my condolences to those who knew and loved Aldo. A memory that I have of him happened after school one evening, He was delivering newspapers when an intoxicated driver struck him. Our Mom heard the ambulance siren and prayed it was not one of her children. This time it was. Aldo had many injuries all over and many cuts to his face and nearly lost an eye but he could have lost his life. I am glad he stuck around. His step-daughter told me he was a good man, That says a lot. He will be missed by his brother Yvon who lives in Brownvake AB.
SINCERE CONDOLENCES TO ALL HIS FAMILY MAY HE REST IN PEACE
