(1991-2017)
Grande-Digue
He is survived by his loving parents, Nicole Gautreau Parks and Cecil Parks, his grandparents, Lucille and Paul-Émile Gautreau, his uncles, aunts, several cousins and his godson, Jackson. He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Beulah Parks.
Despite his medical challenges, Alexandre had never limited himself and had always remained steadfast towards his goals. He completed his Bachelor of Sciences (biology) at the Université de Moncton, his Masters in Sciences in experimental medicine at Université Laval, Québec and had started his Doctorat in Life sciences (in the field of breast cancer) at Université de Moncton. In 2015 and 2016, he was invited to present his research publications at two separate conferences in Québec.
Amongst other achievements, Alexandre was the recipient of several bursaries, certificates of merit; he was on the academic honor roll and received a certification from the Committee of Animal Protection. During his studies at Université Laval, Alexandre was the first author of two publications in scientific journals. Alexandre was always actively involved in student activities. He participated on several committees over the years. Most recently he served as “Vice-président académique de l’Association Étudiante de la Faculté des Sciences de l’Université de Moncton”.
Alexandre loved his dogs; he also loved to travel, read, take walks and swim. He enjoyed watching his favourite hockey team, the Philadelphia Flyers with his father. He spent a fair amount of time in front of one of his computers searching the internet for information about his research field, world news, sciences, medicine and sports without limiting his time gaming with friends.
Alexandre’s joy of life was powerful. His resilience, determination, courage and positive attitude rendered him a unique and exceptional individual. He lived a short but full life. His memory will live on in each of us and will serve forever as a model to us all.
