Moncton, NB – Alfred Caissie, 96, passed away peacefully at the Veteran’s Health Centre in Moncton, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 3, 2014.
Born in St-Philippe, NB on December 14, 1917, he was the son of the late Belonie and Bessie Caissie.
He served in Canada United Kingdom, Continental Europe from 1942 to 1945 and was awarded four medals for his service. He was a member of the Club d’âge d’or of St-Philippe. Hunting and fishing was his favorite sports.
Alfred will be sadly missed by his five sons, Alfred Jr. (Laurina), René (Estelle) both of St-Philippe and Armand (Daphne), Normand (Yvonne) both of Moncton and Laurie (Tina) of Rexton; his five daughters, Alice Cormier (Archer), Yvonne Caissie (Edgar) and Yvette Cormier (Léo) all of St-Philippe, Doris Goguen (Emile) and Jeanne Arsenault (Aldore) both of Moncton; his brother, Albénie (Rita) of St-Philippe; his two sisters, Irène Rocks of Ontario and Georgine Thibodeau (late Lionel) of Minto; his thirty-one grandchildren, including his loving granddaughter, Gail Thebeau (Aurèle) of St-Philippe; his forty-seven great grandchildren; his eleven great great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Rose-Marie (Boucher) Caissie; one infant daughter, Georgina; six brothers, Hector, Gerard, Emile, Alyre, Tim and Edgar; four sisters, Lina, Annie and Alice and Exelda.
Visitations will be at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Sunday, April 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Monday, April 7 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral service will be held at La Visitation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Monday, April 7 at 11 am.
Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
