It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alma Sawyer at the age of 101.
Alma is survived by her daughter, Rose-Marie LeBlanc of Dieppe, and her son, Norman Sawyer (Monette) of Shediac; her grandchildren Gisèle LeBlanc, Chantal Léger, Denis Sawyer and Jean-Claude Sawyer; and her great grandchildren Adèle, Simon, Taylor and Tinsley.
In addition to her immediate family, she is also survived by her brother, Roger Robichaud, her sisters-in-law, Claudette Robichaud and Marguerite Robichaud, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis Sawyer, her son-in-law, Charles LeBlanc, her brothers: Ronald, Rudolph and Theodore, and her sisters, Geneva, Grace and Irene.
Alma was a contributing member of the community, volunteering for the Richibucto Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, cooking meals well into her 80’s for the Veterans Outreach Program. In addition, she was a member of the Richibucto Catholic Women’s League, the Golden Age Club and the Rexton Lions Club.
The family wishes to express its gratitude for the care provided by the staff at Pavillon Landry, Faubourg du Mascaret.

Dear Norm, Monette, and family. We were saddened to hear of Norm’s mother’s passing. We never got to meet Alma, but she must have been a great lady. Our condolences to you and your family.

Rosemarie, Norman, and family. I was very sad to hear of your mother’s passing. Your mother and my mother were born on the same day, November 25th, 1922, my mother was Imelda McKinnon, and she passed away in 2021, she was two weeks away from turning 99, so when your mother turned 100, I tried to find her, I called so many Nursing Homes, but they would not tell me where she was, I wanted to go and wish e a Happy birthday. I worked with her at the Legon and I was treasurer for the Golden Age Club in Rexton, I sat and talked with your mother so many times over the years, and she spoke many times of her children and grandchildren. My condolences to all the Sawyer family. My mother Imelda McKinnon was Alma’s friend, they were born on the same day. Now they can celebrate their birthdays together again, Imelda passed away 2 years ago. . I’m sorry for your loss.
