Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. He was employed by Canada Post as a Post Master until he retired. Alyre was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved spending time with family and friends on the Miramichi River.
Al was a kind, generous and loving man. He will be missed beyond measure by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Besides his wife, Theresa Touchie of Shediac, Alyre is survived by his two sisters, Dora Clausen of Lachute, QC and Jeanne Harquail of Edmundston, NB. He is also survived by his step-children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Alyre was predeceased by his father Samuel and mother Jane (Poitras), his first wife, Delia (Babineau), his sister, Alma LeClair, his two brothers, Nelson and Oneil.
As per Alyre’s wishes there will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 415 Main Street, Shediac, on Thursday, October 12th, 2017 at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CHU Dumont Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
