Born in Bouctouche, NB, he was the son of the late Laura Bastarache and the late Alphonse Arsenault.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 58 years, Majella Pellerin, his son Gerry, and his daughter in law, Carole; his brothers Gerard (Bernice), Emery (Roberta), Jean-Charles, Roger (Lucille), Camille (Nicole) and his sisters Alphonsine and Therese (Donnie) and his sister in law Carole (Late Wilfred) as well as his nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alyre was predeceased by his sister, Noëlla and by his three brothers, Paul, Wilfred and Émile.
Alyre worked as a Registered Nurse Assistant and a dark room technician at the Moncton Hospital. He also worked as a Registered Nurse Assistant at the Villa Du Repos. He had also studied and received his certificate in electronics.
Alyre was very fortunate and blessed to have the love and support of many people especially during his illness. Some forgotten only but name, but to name a few, his spiritual friends Sister Claire Lafrance, Sister Adela Collette and Father Fidèle LeBlanc, his best friend Maurice Daigle for his weekly visits, and his very good friends Wayne Cassidy for his smile, Karen Poirier his number one friend at the door and Geraldine Turcotte, his angel, Jeannette Babin for her special deserts and for their dedicated home care. The men and women who treated him during the battle that they fought with him included the Extra-Mural Hospital, the Oncology Department, Dr. St. Hilaire, Dr. Turcotte, Dr. Lee, Dr. Veronique LeBlanc as well as Doris Ann Savoie, and finally the many nurses at the Palliative Care Unit who comforted him during his last days. To you and all carried his suffering with him, this will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Road (corner West Lane), Moncton, NB, on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Funeral service will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel, Moncton, NB, on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 at 2:00pm with Father Jean-Guy Dallaire officiating. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Calvary, Dieppe at a later date.
