Grand-Barachois – Amédée Goguen, 92, passed away peacefully at the St-John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, August 29, 2011, after a sudden illness.
Born in Grande-Digue on May 5, 1919, he was the son of the late Fred and Adèle (Caissie) Goguen.
Amédée was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion of Shediac and the Club d’Âge d’Or of Cap-Pelé.
Amédée will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Albina (Cormier); by his two sons, Ronald (Albertine) of Lakeville and Francis (Denise) of Cap-Pelé; by his six daughters, Gisèle Girouard (Wayne) of Dieppe, Delcia Boudreau (Clairence), Lucille Doiron (Francis), Shirley Fontaine (Bernard) all of Grand-Barachois, Jeannine LeBlanc (Larry) of Memramcook and Nancy Landry of Boudreau West; by his five brothers, Désiré (late Estère) of Bas-Cap-Pelé, Normand (Floride), Raymond (late Grace) of Summerside, PEI, Joseph (Lorraine) and Alfred (Odette) both of Grande-Digue; by his three sisters, Maria Huntnick (George) and Rhéa LeBlanc (Roméo), both of Dieppe and Dorilla Boisvert (late Alphonse) of Toronto; by his twelve grandchildren; by his six great grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one infant daughter, Jeannette; four brothers, Arthur, Robert, Wilfred and Normand; five sisters, Aurelie, Yvonne, Germaine, Irène and Nora; and one infant sister, Yvonne.
Respecting Amédée’s wish, there will be no visitations. Funeral service will be held at the Ste-Thérèse d’Avila RC Church in Cap-Pelé on Thursday, September 1st at 3 pm. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cap-Pelé cemetery or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
