Cocagne, NB – Aquila Richard, 88, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, May 31, 2013 after a brief illness.
Born in Ste-Anne-de-Kent, NB on March 14, 1925, he was the son of the late Cléophas and Emma (Maillet) Richard.
Aquila was a Second World War Veteran. He was a member and a volunteer for the old age clubs in Bouctouche and Cocagne; also at the Legion in Bouctouche until 2011.
Aquila will be sadly missed by his wife, Marie-Anna (Babineau) Richard; his two sons, Normand (Debbie) of Coquitlam, BC, Jean (Dany) of Dieppe; his two brothers, Joseph (late Aurélie) of Dieppe, Réginald (Rose-Mai) of Hartford, Connecticut; his two sisters, Marie Girouard (Auguste) of Dieppe, Marguerite Roy (Gerry) of Brampton, ON; his two sisters in-law, Thérèse of Vernon, BC and Yvonisse of Wiarton, ON; his two grandchildren, Jérami and Maryssa; his great grandson, Damien; also by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Lorette (John) and Alfreda; four brothers, Albert (Laura), Alonzo, Émile and Édouard.
Visitation will be at the Cocagne Slumber Room on Monday, June 3, 2013, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 9:30 am until time of the funeral. The funeral mass will be at the St-Pierre de Cocagne RC Church on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11 am. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donation to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont (Oncology Dept.) or to donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
