It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Azor Bastarache at the age of 85 on August 27, 2023, at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital.
Born in Bouctouche, he was the son of the late Adélard and the late Laura Bastarache.
Azor will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Louiselle Bastarache, and by his three daughters: Bernice Corr (Dana), Diane LeBlanc and Stella Richard (Donald); his two grandchildren: Jessica and Jamie; his siblings: Laurie (Murielle), Edmond (late Maria), Lina (late Albert), Cécile (Gérard) and Julia (Camille).
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three sisters: Doris Bastarache, Sr. Delma Bastarache and Léona Parker.
Azor worked as an electrician for a few years but then left to become a fisherman. His love of the ocean was what drew Azor to his true passion and the captain of his own boat. He also devoted many years as a volunteer for the Search and Rescue at Sea, Club d’Age d’Or, and Fisheries Board. Azor loved to go dancing with his wife, Louiselle; as well as hunting, fishing, music and sports.
A devoted Catholic, this genuine man of kind heart and patient demeanor left us with fond memories of a loving husband, doting father and just a charming man.
He will be missed and will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in peace.
