In Loving Memory of Bella Lajoie

Bella passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the Briarlea, surrounded by her daughters Brigitte and Lise, as well as her only son, Phillip.

Bella left this world serenely and will be deeply missed by her children, her grandchildren Jonathan, Élodie, Julien, Sophie, Cédric, and Pascal, together with her great-grandchildren Benjamin, Denver, Avery, Tessa, Beckett, and Louka as well as her sister-in-law Gail and her two nieces, Stacey and Kelly.

Bella was predeceased by her parents, John and Évangéline, and her younger brother, Ronnie.

Her life was filled with many joys, but none greater than the love she shared with her family. For Bella, family was always her first and greatest priority. She cared deeply for each of them and was unwavering in her love, concern, and devotion.

For more than 25 years, she was a passionate and devoted teacher, beginning her career at Harrison Trimble High School and concluding it at La Polyvalente Mathieu-Martin in Dieppe. She was a teacher of character, principle, and integrity. Beyond the classroom, she was always willing to make time for her students, offering guidance, compassion, and support when they faced more personal challenges. Her dedication to her students went far beyond teaching academics—she genuinely cared about their well-being and was a trusted source of encouragement and wisdom. Her influence touched the lives of countless students, many of whom will remember her not only as a teacher, but as someone who truly believed in them.

Bella was equally appreciated for her many years of volunteer work at the Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital. Be it serving in oncology to fundraising and bookkeeping, she was steadfast in her desire to be of service.

She enjoyed socializing with her friends and rarely missed her beloved bridge games.

She was cherished and lovingly cared for by all the wonderful staff at the Briarlea. For their kindness, compassion, and care, we are eternally grateful.

Her passing leaves a great void in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for the love she gave, the joy she shared, and the many lives she touched.

Rest in peace, Mom. You’ve earned it.

Till we meet again.

  1. So sorry to hear of Bella’s passing. My deepest sympathy to the family. I graduated from MHS with Bella and enjoyed our lunches we had once a month with Bella and a few other grads. Bella was a beautiful and kind friend.

  2. Dear Brigitte, Lise and Phillip.
My deepest condolences. When my sister sent me this post, I stopped in my tracks. I am so sorry for your loss.
Your mother stands out among many mothers of my youth. She was the “cool” mom….the one you felt you could confide in and trust with an embarrassing situation She would offer advice and consolation and make you feel like it was ok…that you weren’t insignificant. Of course as life goes, we fall away from our school friends and their parents but when it counts…we don’t forget.
I want you to know that Bella ( I love that name – it’s so fitting ) had an uplifting and positive influence on my life as I matured.
Wishing you the best as you enter this passage of body and spirit. Safe travels Bella!
