Moncton, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Mrs. Bernadette (Melanson) Bourgeois of Dieppe and formerly of Cap-Pelé, which occurred on Friday June 2, 2023, at the Villa du Repos in Moncton at the age of 86, surrounded by her family.
Wife of the late Alfred Bourgeois, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and the late Zelica Melanson (Landry).
She leaves in mourning and sadness, but also with wonderful memories, her three children: Alfred (Linda), Edgar (Monique) and Bernice (Gilles).
Mom also leaves behind her grandchildren, whom she loved very much and of whom she was proud: Christopher (Michou), Jason (Mélanie), Samuel (Riley), Sébastien (Natasha), Chantale (Steven), and Natalie (Scott); her great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Peneloppe, Eloise, Mirabelle, Marilyne, Savanna, and Sabrina; a nephew (godson), Paul (Joanne), whom she loved very much; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters and brothers: Rita, Irène, Rosie, Edna, Marguerite, Mathilda, René, Alex, and Joseph; her parents-in-law, Sévérin and Nelida Bourgeois; her sisters-in-law, Corinne and Dorilla; and her brothers-in-law, Édouard and Neri.
Bernadette was everything to us and her departure leaves us with a huge void. Our mother was a strong and intelligent woman who taught us the value of family, perseverance, and hard work. The same values that we in turn taught our children and grandchildren.
You will remain in our hearts forever. You are now with dad to watch over us. In our eyes, her beauty was equal to her goodness.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff and the palliative care unit at Villa du Repos. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held for the family at later date.
In lieu of flowers, in memory of Bernadette, we invite you to donate to the Albert House Hospice SENB or for dementia (Alzheimer Society).
The family invites you to sign a book of condolences online at:
