In Loving Memory Of
Bertha Comeau
1937 ~ 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bertha Comeau, 86, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at her residence in Dieppe.

Although born and raised in Moncton, NB. Bertha came to call Dalhousie NB home, residing there for over fifty years.

Always smiling and in good humour, she loved the North Shore and its residents and had formed many deep and long-lasting friendships over the years.

She was actively involved in many organizations including “Les Aventuriers de Charlo” Cross Country Skiing Club, the Dalhousie Figure Skating Club, the 2003 Bathurst-Campbellton Canada Winter Games, as well as others.

However, she was most proud to have been a member of the Chaleur Echoes Barbershop Choral Group, traveling to competitions within North America, all the while forming more friendships.

She had many fond memories of working on the pediatric floor of the Moncton Hospital as a young woman, prior to relocating with Francis on his assignment with NB Power.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, doting on her grandchildren on their visits to Dalhousie or to the family cottage at Cap Bimet, NB.

Bertha will be sadly missed by her husband: Francis Comeau: her children: Mark (Krista Barry) of Fredericton and Catherine Savoie (John) of Calgary, AB; her grandchildren: Shawne Comeau, Christopher Comeau, Gabrielle Savoie-Simpson (Jake), Dylan Savoie and Hannah Savoie; her siblings: Rita Melanson (Dollard) of Dieppe, Armand (Jeanne), Régis (Edna) both of Moncton, Roger of Fitchburg, Mass, Diane LeBlanc (Ulysse) of Dieppe, Rose-Marie Landry (Al Boudreau) of Rindge, NH, Pauline Boudreau (Camille) and Julia Doucet (Gilles) both of Dieppe; her sister-in-law: Dorilla of Riverview; also by several nieces and nephews.

She was the daughter of the late William and the late Irène Roy (Arsenault) and was also predeceased by her sister: Léa McGraw (late Hector) and her brothers: Guillaume and Jean-Paul.

A funeral service will be held at Saint-Anselme RC Church at 1014 Amirault St, Dieppe, NB E1A 1C9, on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 1pm. There will be a reception/light lunch served at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault, Dieppe, NB, after the ceremony where you will be able to meet with the family.

Thank you to Dr. Marc-André LeBlond, Dr. Cynthia Savoy, the ALS Society of NB and NS, and a heartfelt thanks to the members of the Extra Mural Program (Dieppe location) who provided Bertha with excellent care in her battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.

In memory of Bertha, a donation can be made to ALS Society of NB and NS.

To each of you I extend my heartfelt condolences! Bert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and very special friend to many. Her beauty, her smile, her laughter and consistent positivity will be remembered by all of us who loved her.
As friends, we shared many times of joy and fun in our years together in Dalhousie. Bert had many friends in the town who respected and admired her quiet, unassuming ways. She was indeed a loyal friend!

He shared many stories about her and how much he loves her. He loved her heart as much as her smile. May she rest in peace. May God bless all of her family in this saddest of times.

We were so blessed to have known Bert (Mrs Comeau) and have such fond memories of when we lived in Dalhousie. Pretty lady, kind lady, maker of divinity fudge, big dimples ( passed on to Cathy!) are just a few adjectives to describe her. She was always so sweet to us kids and was a great friend to my mom and the most favourite person our dad liked to tease!
Our hearts are breaking with you and you are in our thoughts and prayers.
