Carl J. Malchow

Carl John Malchow, of Dieppe and formerly of Calgary and originally from Campbellton NB, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont hospital, Tuesday, May 5, 2009 following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Carl enjoyed a wonderful 78 years of life.

Carl will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 55 years, Corinne (LeBlanc), his children, Charles (wife Karen) of Edmonton, AB, Caroline (husband David) of Geneva, Switzerland, and Paul (wife Marthe) of Dieppe, NB, and grandchildren, Crystal (Brown), Jessica (Ellis), Christopher (Malchow), Mélanie and Julie (Malchow). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Campbellton, NB, July 17, 1930, he was the son of the late Herman and Estelle (Daigle). Carl was predeceased by his brothers Harold and Charles as well as his sister Margaret.
Carl worked for the City of Campbellton for 25 years, retiring as Fire Chief. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club of Canada and the Knights of Columbus.

After his retirement from the City of Campbellton, Carl and Corinne relocated to Calgary to be near their youngest son Paul and their daughter Caroline. In 2008, Carl, Corinne, Paul and family returned to the Maritimes and settled in Dieppe NB

A funeral mass will be held at Ste-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 11 am.
Interment at the Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be welcomed.

À l’Hôpital régional Dr Georges-L. Dumont, le mardi 5 mai, 2009, suite d’une courte maladie, entouré de sa famille, est décédé Carl John Malchow, 78, domicilié à Dieppe, autrefois de Calgary, originaire de Campbellton N.-B.

Né à Campbellton, N.-B., le 17 juillet, 1930, il était fils de feu Herman et de feu Estelle (Née: Daigle) Malchow.

Il manquera à son épouse bien-aimée depuis 55 ans, Corinne (LeBlanc); à ses enfants: Charles (Karen) d’Edmonton, Alb., Caroline (David) de Geneva, Suisse et Paul (Marthe) de Dieppe, N.-B., ainsi qu’à ses petits-enfants: Crystal (Brown), Jessica (Ellis), Christopher (Malchow), Mélanie et Julie (Malchow). Il laisse aussi dans le deuil sept arrière-petits-enfants et plusieurs neveux et nièces.
Ses frères: Harold et Charles, ainsi qu’une soeur, Margaret l’ont précédé dans la tombe.

Carl a travaillé pendant 25 ans pour la ville de Campbellton et a été chef pompier. Il était membre actif du club Rotary du Canada et des Chevaliers de Colomb. Après sa retraite de la ville de Campbellton, Carl et Corinne ont déménagé à Calgary pour se rapprocher de leurs enfants, Paul et Caroline. En 2008, Carl, Corinne, Paul et la famille sont retournés s’installer à Dieppe, N.-B.
Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Sainte-Thérèse de Dieppe, le samedi 9 mai, 2009 à 11h.

Au lieu de fleurs, un don à la Fondation des maladies du coeur, à la Société canadienne du cancer ou à l’Association canadienne du diabètes serait apprécié par la famille.
Un merci spécial au personnel de l’Hôpital régional Dr Georges-L. Dumont pour leurs bons soins.

Les arrangements funéraires ont été confiés aux soins professionnels de la maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B. (857-1901).
