Grand-Barachois, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Richard, 88, on August 6th, 2025, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center in Moncton surrounded by her family.
Born in Memramcook-East on December 29,1936, she was the daughter of the late Philippe LeBlanc and the late Dora (Dupuis) LeBlanc.
She will be sadly missed by her five daughters: Gisele Bellio (Gary) of South Carolina, Jacqueline Therrien (Donald) of Haute Aboujagane, Annette Richard of Grande-Digue, Louise Guillemette, and Rachel Salmonson (Joshua) all of New Hampshire. She leaves behind sixteen grandchildren, Christine, Justin, Nicholas, Andrea, Jasmin, Marc-Anthony, Veronique, Michael, Christopher, Shannon, Joshua, Kyle, Vincent, Matthew, Victoria, and Kaleb ; ten great grandchildren, Colin, Reese, Gemma-Sophia, Kaya, Mason, Madison, Ryan, Avery, Theo and Kit; one brother, Adrice (Gilberte) of Memramcook-East; one sister, Joanne Maillet (late Alphee) of Massachusetts; her sister-in-laws: Antoinette, Alfreda, Linda, Florence (Valmond), and Adlessa (late Yvon); her brother-in-law, Norbert Richard (Florence); as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ulysse (2010); her son, Camille (2011); her grandson, Nathan (2018); as well as her brothers and sisters: Alexandre, Marie-Blanche (Oscar), Jacques, Charles-Edouard, Lorraine, and Hector.
She spent 37 years in the United States continuing to grow her family, retiring from her long time employer; Foster Grant. Never one for grand display of affection, she will be remembered for her quiet strength, love of lobster and the simple joys of life; with her neatly placed skein of yarn and her fiercely protected bingo card. Creating beautiful blankets and chaussettes that are now cherished by her loved ones.
Visitation will be held at Passage, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB E4R 1T3 (506) 532-1050, on Friday, August 22nd, from 1 to 3 pm only. Funeral mass will be held at St-Henri de Barachois RC Church, on Friday, August 22nd, at 4 pm. Interment will be held in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.
