In Loving Memory Of
Charles Cyril Murphy
1932 - 2023

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our dear father, Charles, of Moncton Residence. Born March 2,1932 (91) in Reserve Mines, Cape Breton, NS to the late Edward “Dodger” and Effie (Chiasson) Murphy.

Charles joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1949 in Halifax, NS. He was posted in France, throughout Canada, and in the USA. Charles served as Base Warrant Officer in Moncton, No 5 in 1976-1981 and Command Chief Warrant Officer in Winnipeg 1981-1985. He moved back to New Brunswick after retirement.

He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion #6 and the Air Force Veterans Club, where he served as president from 2003-2005.

Dad was an avid athlete in his youth, participating in a wide range of sports including hockey, football, baseball, and curling. Golf was his passion, and he was a former member of Golf Bouctouche, St. Ignace, Moncton, Magnetic Hill, and Catamount Golf Clubs. At 78, he golfed his age at Bouctouche Golf Club and was proud of this accomplishment. He also loved to display his “hole in one” trophy.

Charles is survived by four daughters, Brenda White of Gull Lake, Alberta, Sandra Griffiths (Steve) of Gull Lake, Alberta, Wendy Leigh (Scott) of Sherwood Park, Alberta, and Donna Murphy of Molus River, New Brunswick. One brother, Gary (Anne) of Toronto, ON.

He was loved by nine grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Krysta, John, Stephanie, Lyle, Logan, Mia, and Abi. Eight great grandchildren: Justin, Ashton, Liam, Evan, Jaden, Audrey, Anya and Sullivan. One great, great grandson Ian.

Charles was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Dargavel), son David, and granddaughter Frances, sisters:   Agnes Monroe, Marilyn McCormick, Marcia Bott, Laura McMullen-Laity, Ann Claudette Murphy; and infant brothers:  Edward Junior and Russell Murphy.

As per Charlie’s request, a private service will be held at a later date.

  1. Charlie was one of a kind.was a great friend during his post at CFB Moncton our sympathy from Jeanne and Ron Gould to all the family God Bless ❤️🙏

  2. Charlie lived his informative years in the days when the man of the family provided most of the monetary necessities of life and it is very apparent that he did a fine job at it. His family, always well provided for, is a statement to the person he was. A sad time for the Murphy family. Please accept our condolences. Trudy Keith and family.

  3. To all the Murphy family far and near -my condolences on your loss-Charlie was one of a kind!
