Charles (Charlie) Richard passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by his loving family at the Faubourg du Mascaret in Moncton.
Born in Richibucto on March 27, 1938, Charlie was the beloved husband of the late Annabelle Richard (née Bastarache) (2024) and the son of the late Lucie Richard (née Robichaud) and the late Jean-Baptiste Richard.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Claude (Joanne) of Fredericton, Paul of Bouctouche, Marc (Susan) of Saint John and Denise (Ghislain) of Tracadie, his six grandchildren: Marcel, Chantal, Chloé, Julian, Liam, and Ezra; and his six great-grandchildren: Sophie, Rosalie, Everlee, Anna, Billie-Joe, and Ayla, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and his wife, Charlie was predeceased by his sister, Delima; his stepmother, Emilienne (Robichaud) Richard; his stepsisters, Rosalie and Bernadette; and his stepbrother, Ernest Robichaud.
Before his retirement, Charlie dedicated nearly 38 years of service to NB Power. Working in various positions throughout his career, he began as an Apprentice Lineman and retired as a District Manager. He loved to travel and shared this sense of adventure with his children, spending summers in Bouctouche and also yearly camping trips to various locations. After retirement, he made countless memories with Annabelle spending their winters on the road in their trailer.
Charlie also had a passion for reading and making puzzles. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Maillet Funeral Co-operative, 29 rue de l’Église, Bouctouche, NB E4S 2Z5, (506) 743-2207 on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church in Bouctouche.
In memory of Charlie, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
