In Loving Memory Of
Clarisse McLaughlin
August 26, 2014

Riverview, NB ~ CLARISSE MCLAUGHLIN (Poirier) of Monarch Hall, passed away peacefully surrounded by members of her family on August 26, 2014 in her 95th year. Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, N B, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Poirier (Allain). She is survived by Huntley, her husband of nearly 70 years, her brother Gérard (Flora) Poirier of Moncton, by her sisters-in-laws, Imelda of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Dorice of Moncton, her brother-in-law, Hervé Gagnon of Moncton. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Émile, Irénée and Aldérice and her sister Nélida. Clarisse was a marvelous mother to Aubrey/Bob (Mary) of Peterborough ON, Elaine (Michael) Burrock of Fort Myers FLA, Myrna of Vancouver, BC, Paul (Pat) and Marc (Suzanne) both of Riverview and Allan (Carol) of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent. Clarisse was much loved by her grand-children Craig, Karen, Colin, Robyn, Ben, Jonah, Luke, Jessica, Natasha, Theresa, Ashley, Shane, Lauren and also by her great-grand-children Carly, Tori, Jack, Campbell, Holly, Michael, Jacob, Declan, Elaina, Erika, Clara, Samara, Autumn, Hope, Starr most of whom were reunited with their wonderful "Mémére" at the wedding of Lauren and Nick this past July. Clarisse was so devoted to her family – both immediate and extended that she faithfully kept ties with, through her long handwritten letters (long before texting), even while moving several times across the continent when Huntley’s Air Force career took them from Nova Scotia to Ontario to Prince Edward Island to British Columbia and back to New Brunswick. Birthdays and other celebrations were never missed; in fact she and Huntley still sent out over 100 Christmas cards last year. Somehow Clarisse also found time to devote time and energy to charitable works such as the Red Cross, Meals-on-wheels, and especially, the Catholic Women’s League of which she was local president numerous times in various locations and from whom she received the coveted 50-year pin. In retirement, she and Huntley pursued their passion for travel including an Alaskan cruise. She continued hobbies like gardening, knitting, quilting and square-dancing as well. And during their 19 winters in Florida, she was very active in their Pine Ridge community and at the Church of the Resurrection. The family would like to thank the staff of Monarch Hall for their compassion and care that she received especially the staff of the first floor where she resided.

The family will receive condolences at Passage Funeral Chapel, 625 Mountain Rd, Moncton on Friday, August 29th, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Passage Funeral Chapel at 10:30am on Saturday, August 30th, 2014 followed by a reception. Interment will be in Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel Cemetery, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent.

At the request of the family, in memory of Clarisse contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
