Moncton, NB – It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Claudia Losier, age 83, at Faubourg du Mascaret, Cormier Pavilion, on April 16, 2026.
Claudia was an educator at heart. She completed her training at the Normal School in Fredericton before teaching in schools in northern New Brunswick, in Saumarez. She later ran her own daycare, La Maternelle l’Abeille, in the basement of her home in Beresford, before returning to teaching in several schools: l’Abécédaire, Carrefour Étudiants, École La Croisée in Robertville, as well as various schools in Moncton, including Vanier, Beauséjour, Sainte-Thérèse, Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, Sainte-Bernadette, and Amirault.
She also served as director of the Dieppe library, where she knew how to captivate the attention and imagination of young people through story time. Many of them developed a love of reading thanks to Mrs. Claudia. She was a member of the Dames d’Acadie for many years and enjoyed playing Scrabble with her friends.
Born in Saumarez, NB, she was the daughter of the late Mathurin Losier and the late Suzanne Mallais.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Calixte Losier; her three sons: Serge (Francine), André (Amber), and Marc (Alice); her daughter Martine (Matthew); her nine grandchildren: Cassandra, Stéphanie, Sylvain, Jocelyn, Nathan, Cynthia, Patrick, Mathieu, and Gabrielle; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Maya and Miguel, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves to mourn her three sisters: Aline (Guy), Normande (Renald), and Sylvie (Gary); her two brothers: Aldéoda (Laurentienne) and Stéphane (Joceline); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her three brothers: Gérald-Majella, Jean-Guy, and Normand, as well as her twin sister, Claudette.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, E1A 1G1 (506-857-1901), on Monday, April 27 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. only. The funeral will take place the same day at St-Anselme Church, 1014 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, at 3:00 p.m.
