Grande-Digue, NB – It is with great sadness, that we the family announce the passing of Daniel Bernier, 73, on Sunday, January 2nd, 2022, at his residence.
Daniel was born in Granby, Québec, on August 16th, 1948. He was the son of the late Conrad Bernier and the late Marie-Ange Chicoine.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, Colette (Roy); his children: Julie Bernier (Guy Savoie) and Mathieu Bernier (Jennifer); his grandchildren: Xavier and Pierre Savoie and Kloé and Melodie Bernier; his sisters: Andrée Roy (Gaston) and Johanne Parent (André); his brothers: Luc Bernier and Ronald Bernier (Monique Benoit); his brother-in-law, Pierre Losier (Gilberte) and his sister-in-law, Suzanne Roy, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
He was predeceased by his brothers: Roch Bernier (late Rachel Hamelin), François Bernier (Claudette Pinsonnault) and his brothers-in-law: Daniel Roy (Jeannita Belliveau) and Maurice Roy.
Daniel was a retired RCMP. He served as a RCMP police officer for over 30 years. After retirement, he pursued a passion for gardening and agriculture. He was the owner of
“Le Jardin Cambret” in Grande-Digue, NB, a U-Pick blueberry farm. His love for gardening, agriculture and connecting with customers made his blueberry farm a very special place for many. It was his pride and joy.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, (506-857-1901), on Saturday, March 12th, 2022 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 8:00pm. There will be no funeral service.
Note that due to Covid-19 regulations, proof of vaccination, government ID, mask will be required.

My sympathies to the family. He was a kind and funny man, and I appreciated that most of all when he was trying to project the opposite. I’ll treasure always his awkward and friendly relationship with my own father, who was clumsy but very earnest with his French. My love to Colette.
Je suis tellement triste d’entendre la nouvelle du départ soudain de Daniel. J’ai eut la chance de travaillé avec Daniel avec ses bleuets et j’ai toujours bien aimé son sens d’humour et sa joie de vivre!

Le passage de Daniel nous prend tous par surprise, mais notre foi nous rappelle et nous assure qu’il n’a pas fait ce passage seul. Il a traversé avant vous sur l’autre rive et vous attend dans la Lumière et la Vie qui n’ont pas de fin. Il continuera de vous aimer et de veiller sur vous; il sera toujours présent, mais autrement.

Daniel was the funniest, most generous man I’ve ever known. He cared so much about his family, grandkids and friends. He will be missed dearly. I will cherish all of our memories grand papa.

C’est avec surprise et tristesse que j’ai appris la nouvelle de son décès. J’ai pu apprécier Daniel lorsque j’ai travaillé avec lui. Il a pu me faire rire à plusieurs occasions et une histoire (de mon coin de pays) qu’il m’a raconté il y a bien longtemps, m’apporte toujours le sourire aux lèvres. Toutes mes condoléances à toi Colette et à la famille.

My deepest condolences to the Bernier Family. I was a troop mate of Daniel’s while training in Regina. Daniel was a very pleasant hardworking member of our troop. I have some good memories sharing the driver training vehicle with him during our time in Depot.

I was honoured to be stationed with Dan. My condolences to Colette. He was a good officer. It is always a sad time in our lives to lose someone we care about.
I was very sad to hear of Dan’s passing. I would like to pass on my sincere condolences to Dan’s wife and family. I am also a retired member of the RCMP. I never worked directly with Dan but always enjoyed being in his company. whenever our paths crossed.

He was a dedicated member and a fun person to work with. He had a great ability to inject humor into any situation and you always knew where Dan stood on the issues of the day, work or otherwise!
