Denis Michel Cormier 45, of Moncton passed peacefully at his residence, surrounded by all those who loved him, on Sunday February 11th 2018, after battling a degenerative neuromuscular illness for 32 years.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of Gervais Cormier of Bouctouche and Gisèle Richard-Cormier of Saint-Norbert-de-Kent.
Besides his parents, he is survived by two sisters: Monique Cormier (Denis Poirier) of Penobsquis, NB and Annie Nadia Cormier of Moncton and his paternal grandfather Hervé J. Cormier of Bouctouche.
Gisèle, Gervais, Monique and Annie and our families owe an unrepayable debt to Leona who totally and unselfishly devoted herself to Denis’ care and became his second mother for the last 17 years.
She was and remains our North Star.
A special thank you to Linda for lovingly caring for Denis during 11 years.
We would like to thank all the caregivers that cared for him.
A profound gratitude is also owed to his best friend Serge LeBlanc.
Aunt Sarah and Uncle Ray Boudreau, Uncle Sylvio for their unwavering devotion to Denis, during their weekly visits.
Also present in his life were his Aunt Phyllis (Andy Davis), Uncle Roger Cormier, Aunt Francine, Uncle (Dr.) Norbert Richard (Sharon), Uncle Michel Richard (Sheila) and several cousins.
A sincere gratitude to the Extra Mural Hospital Team, a special mention to Suzanne Doyon (Inhalothérapeute), Martine Pelletier (Ergothérapeute), Nicole Harper (Social Worker), also to Laurier Robichaud who was with Denis during his last hours and was a great comfort to the family members and staff and Dr. Vincent Melanson for the excellent care provided.
Viewing will be held at Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe (857-1901), on Thursday March 8th 2018 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
A procession leaving from Chartersville Funeral Home at 9:45 am to Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church Dieppe, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday March 9th 2018 at 10:30 am, with Father Arthur Bourgeois officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to CHU Dumont Hospital Foundation "Extra-Mural" would be appreciated by the family.
Denis: you have enriched our lives, you have been a very good son.
Love Mom and Dad
