It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald E. LeBlanc at the age of 70, on December 10th, 2011 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of the late Eugene "Dan" LeBlanc and the late Mary Stewart.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Yolande Castonguay-LeBlanc, his three children: Renée Marthe (Luc Bédard) of Québec, Marie-Josée (Juan Diego Gahete) and their daughters: Amélie and Amanda of Séville, Spain, and Quentin and his daughter, Emma Joséphine LeBlanc of Moncton. He is also survived by his two sisters: Helen (late Murray) Leitch of Riverview, NB and Phyllis (Bruce) Wilson of Moncton, NB; by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Ronald and May Castonguay of Moncton, Berthe and André Dupuis of Gaspé, QC and Jeannot and Sylvia Castonguay of Edmundston, as well as by a few aunts and uncles, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Before retiring, Don worked as a teacher. He first started teaching in Fredericton then moved to Moncton where he was employed by School district 15 (now 2) as a French three coordinator working mainly for the Early Immersion Program. He did some voluntary work at Alliance française, Moncton and was a member of the Moncton Symphony Foundation. A music lover – Mozart was his favorite – he was an active member of the Neil-Michaud male choir as well as of the Aboiteaux mixed choir. He loved discovering new countries and travelled extensively with his wife.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm and also on Wednesday from 10:30 am until time of departure for the church.
Funeral mass will be celebrated from Sainte-Thérèse Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe, NB, on Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 at 11:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fonds de bourses Neil-Michaud (UdeM), to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous vous annonçons le décès de Donald E. LeBlanc, époux de Yolande Castonguay-LeBlanc, à l’âge de 70 ans. Son décès est survenu au Centre hospitalier universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le samedi 10 décembre, 2011, après trois semaines d’hospitalisation. Il demeurait à Dieppe, N.-B.
Il était fils de feu Eugène “Dan” LeBlanc et de feu Mary Stewart.
Outre son épouse depuis 46 ans, il laisse dans le deuil trois enfants: Renée Marthe (Luc Bédard) de Québec, Marie-Josée (Juan Diego Gahete) et leurs filles Amélie et Amanda de Séville, Espagne, ainsi que Quentin et sa fille, Emma Joséphine de Moncton. Il laisse également dans le deuil deux soeurs: Helen Leitch (feu Murray) de Riverview et Phyllis Wilson (Bruce) de Moncton; ses beaux-frères et belles-soeurs: Ronald et May Castonguay de Moncton, Berthe et André Dupuis de Gaspé, ainsi que Jeannot et Sylvia Castonguay d’Edmundston; quelques tantes et oncles, ainsi que plusieurs cousins, cousines, neveux, nièces et amis.
Avant sa retraite, M. LeBlanc était enseignant. Il a commencé à enseigner à Fredericton, à l’école Garden Creek puis à l’école Albert Street, avant de venir à Moncton. Pendant de nombreuses années, il a occupé le poste de coordinateur de français langue seconde, particulièrement pour le programme d’immersion précoce au District scolaire 15 (maintenant 2). Il a travaillé comme bénévole à l’Alliance française de Moncton et était membre du conseil d’administration de la Fondation symphonique de Moncton. Grand mélomane, il adorait la musique classique, en particulier Mozart. Il était membre du Choeur Neil-Michaud et du Choeur des Aboiteaux. Il aimait découvrir de nouveaux pays et, avec son épouse, a fait de nombreux voyages.
Les visites auront lieu à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901) le mardi de 14h à 16h et de 19h à 21h ainsi que le mercredi de 10h30 jusqu’au départ pour les funérailles.
Les funérailles auront lieu en l’église Sainte-Thérèse, Dieppe, N.-B., le mercredi, 14 décembre, 2011, à 11h30.
À la mémoire de M. LeBlanc, un don peut être fait au Fonds de bourses Neil-Michaud (UdeM), à la Fondation des maladies du coeur ou à un organisme de votre choix.
