Donald J. Melanson, 77, of Shediac, passed away peacefully on October 10th, 2023 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital in Moncton. He was the son of the late Ulyesse and late Lorraine Melanson (Cormier). He is survived by his daughter: Katie; his son, Donald Jr.; several grandchildren; his sister, Karen LeBlanc (Raymond) of Dieppe; his brothers: Laurie (Theresa), Gary; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul.
Don was well known for his musical talent. He loved to sing and play is guitar, especially the gospel songs he wrote. Don will be greatly missed by family, the many friends, and fishing buddies he had at the Pointe-du-Chêne Wharf in Shediac. He was a quiet, mild mannered man, a person you always liked to hang out with.
Don had great faith in his saviour, Jesus, and was at peace with God. He said where he was going was a beautiful place, and quoted the promise of Jesus, found in the Gospel of John 14:1-3 “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. And if I go prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am”.
At Don’s and the family’s request, there will be no visitations. A graveside ceremony with family and friends will be held at a later date.
