DORA GAUVIN

Dora Gauvin passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Center, Moncton, NB on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011, after a brief illness.

Born in Dieppe, NB on April 8th, 1912, she was the daughter of the late William Robert and the late Regina (née: Melanson) Gauvin of Dieppe, NB.

Dora was well-known in Moncton as the entrepreneurial spirit behind the Vogue Hat Shop, an extremely popular women’s fashion accessory establishment and destination, in Moncton’s Main Street retail history, prior to her retirement. Dora, who loved to travel extensively, was also an avid golfer and curler. Dora also thoroughly enjoyed spending many happy hours at her beloved cottage in Cocagne Cape with her many friends and relatives. Dora was loved and cherished by all of her family members.

Dora was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Irene and two brothers: Edgar (Eddie) and Oscar. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Catherine Gauvin of Dieppe; one cousin, Geraldine Savoie of Moncton and a number of nieces and nephews.

In respecting Dora’s wishes, there will not be any visitation or funeral service.

Interment will take place at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery in Dieppe, NB.

Funeral arrangement entrusted to the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, (857-1901).

 

 

À l’Hôpital Universitaire Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont de Moncton, le mardi 3 mai, 2011, est décédée Dora Gauvin après une courte maladie. Elle demeurait à Moncton, N.-B.

Née à Dieppe, N.-B., elle était fille de feu William Robert et de feu Regina (née: Melanson) Gauvin.

Dora était propriétaire de “Vogue Hat Shop” et était aimé par tous dans sa famille.

Elle était la dernière survivante de sa famille immédiate, outre ses parents; une soeur, Irene et deux frères: Edgar (Eddie) et Oscar l’ont précédé dans la tombe.

Elle laisse dans le deuil une belle-soeur, Catherine Gauvin de Dieppe; une cousine, Geraldine Savoie de Moncton ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces.

À sa demande, aucune visite ou funérailles.

L’inhumation se fera au cimetière Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire, Dieppe, N.-B.

La direction des funérailles a été confiée à la Maison funéraire Chartersville, 363 rue Amirault, Dieppe, N.-B., (857-1901).
