Dorothy Higgerty, 97, passed away peacefully after a short illness in the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton, on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.
Born in Winnipeg MB, on October 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles Wilfred and Beryl Higgins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Claire and her sister, Muriel. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, Brian (Norah) and Wayne (Elizabeth) and former daughter-in-law, Shelley. She was loved by her four grandchildren, Pamela (Mark), Dawne, Michael (Tara) and Jennifer; her two great grandchildren, Jacob and Megan.
In 2003, Dorothy relocated from Brantford, Ontario to St. Martin’s Senior Complex in Shediac Cape and then more recently to special care home “Ti Bons Soins” in Shediac.
The family is especially grateful to her many friends in the area and for the wonderful healthcare services she was provided; her Family Physician, Dr. Julie Moffit and her colleagues, the many doctors and staff at Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and particularly to Mona Pruneau and her caring and talented staff at “Ti Bons Soins”.
A funeral service will be at Passage Funeral Chapel (3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge), on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 4 pm. A reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Beausejour Family Crisis Resource Center, to Hospice Shediac Inc or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
