In Loving Memory Of
Edith Bastarache
1943 ~ 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edith Bastarache, 82, that occurred on Thursday, August 27^th, 2026, at the Moncton Albert Hospice House.

Born in Bouctouche, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Babineau and the late Léa (LeBlanc) Babineau.

Edith was an extremely kind and generous woman. She loved to host and entertain at her home. She enjoyed attending music festivals, playing cards, knitting, gardening, and hunting.

She will be deeply missed by her special friend, Alderice LeBlanc, whom they shared the last four years together; her special nephew, Maurice LeBlanc of Shediac Bridge, whom she helped raised for many years with an open and loving heart. Maurice was like a son to her.

She will also be sadly missed by her brother: Léo-Paul Babineau of Bouctouche; her four sisters: Murielle Steeves (late Roy) of Scoudouc, Norma LeBlanc (late Gerard) of Bouctouche, and Maria Jaillet (Aurèle) of Saint-Antoine, and Carmella of Bouctouche; as well as several nieces, nephews, friends and family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Noël (2011); and by her sister: Alfreda.

There will be no visitation or funeral. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A special thank you to the staff at CHU Dumont Hospital, and also the staff at Maison Albert for the excellent care given to Edith.
