It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Ella Marie Cormier at her home, surrounded by the love of her family, on July 28, 2026.
Born on May 2, 1940, Ella was the beloved daughter of the late Arsene and Emerise LeBlanc. On August 10, 1957, she married the love of her life, Eric Joseph Cormier, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with family, laughter, adventures, and countless treasured memories until his passing in 2025.
Ella came into this world on a wave of excitement, and throughout her life, her sunny disposition could light up a room like a ray of sunshine. She possessed a wonderful childlike innocence and a zest for life that was impossible to resist. Being around Ella was like taking a breath of fresh air. She was a woman who brought people together, and those who gathered around her cherished her company, her laughter, and her genuine love for life.
Ella found happiness in both the extraordinary and the everyday. She loved her family and friends dearly and took great enjoyment in spending time with them. She loved animals, collecting rocks, travelling, and camping, although she certainly could have done without the bugs! Ella especially enjoyed travelling with Eric in their motorhome. She looked forward to the St. Mary Fair, the Albert County Fair, and their annual trips to Rogersville for the Bluegrass Festival.
And then there was chocolate. Ella loved chocolate so much that she became affectionately known simply as “Chocolate.” Pot of Gold, Turtles, and Quality Street were among her favourites, and there was always room for a little more.
Ella loved to dance, and when the music started, she could dance like she was starring in Footloose. She enjoyed jiving, bowling, bingo, mini golf, casino machines, and her memorable trips in the transport truck. For more than a decade, an annual tradition with close friends visiting from Ontario meant one thing: a round of mini golf followed by Chinese food. These simple traditions became cherished memories and were thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Ella was also a devoted mother who took tremendous pride in her family. She and Eric shared a love of sports and made sure their children had every opportunity to participate. Ella was a true hockey mom, travelling to games, practices, and tournaments and cheering on her son Ricky every step of the way.
Her love extended to the family business as well. She often helped her son Ricky and daughter-in-law Natalie with their kennel and grooming business, happily cleaning kennels and, more importantly, spending time with all the dogs she adored.
Ella’s kitchen was another place where her love was expressed. She loved to bake for everyone and was famous for her beautiful Sunday dinners. Christmas was especially important, with a turkey and all the fixings followed by Ella and Eric making meat pies to freeze and enjoy later. She also loved berry-picking and the simple pleasures that came with being outdoors.
Ella will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy and Sandra; her son, Eric Jr. “Ricky” (Natalie); her very special grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Donalda (Alphonse) and Geralda (Yvon); her brother Donald (Anise); her sister-in-law Gisele; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Arsene and Emerise; her beloved daughter Debbie Cormier (Halfpenny) in 2009; her brothers Leo, Irenee, Emerie, Ronaldo, and Gerald; and her sisters Laurise, Anne-Marie, and Irene.
Ella’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the amazing healthcare team at Extra Mural for the compassionate and professional care and support they provided to Ella and her family.
A Celebration of Ella’s Life will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Passage Chartersville, Dieppe.
In memory of Ella, donations would be greatly appreciated by the family to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, the Parkinson’s Foundation of Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Ella, you have left this world of sorrow for a Kingdom of Peace. Your dancing feet are at rest, your hard-working hands are still, and your golden heart has found its peace. We will miss your laughter, your kindness, your love, and perhaps most of all, that wonderful childlike spirit that made everyone around you smile.
Grant us comfort in our grief and help us to carry forward her legacy of hard work, deep joy, and bright smiles.

Always looked forward to seeing my aunt Ella in Toronto as a kid and in New Brunswick when I got older. She was some great,loving,funny,and beautiful person and l will miss her.
