It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elmo Goguen, 81, on Monday, June 26th, 2023, at Foyer St-Antoine.
Born in Cocagne, NB, he was the son of the late René Goguen and Hélène (Maillet) Goguen.
Elmo began his career as a mechanic in Waltham, Massachusetts where he was trained by Eloi Richard, who became his lifelong friend. When he came back to Canada with his family, he was hired on at MacDonald Pontiac Buick in Moncton, where he received many achievement awards during his 20-year tenure. He enjoyed gardening at his home in Cocagne. He also spent many summers camping with his wife and friends at Jardine Park in Richibucto. Elmo was a kind man who enjoyed the simple things in life.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Suzanne (LeBlanc) Goguen; his son, Roland (Sandy) of Massachusetts; his daughter-in-law, Norma Krakoff of California; his sister, Jeannine Davis of North Carolina; his brother, Roger (Rose) of Notre-Dame; his brother-in-law, Édouard Arsenault of Cocagne; his sister-in-law, Yvette Goguen of Notre-Dame; his brother-in-law, Victor LeBlanc (Simonne) of Moncton; his brother-in-law, Gérard LeBlanc (Raymonde) of Cap Pelé; his sister-in-law, Bertha Murray (Stewart) of Cap Pelé; his grandchildren, Rachel, Sierra, Cheyenne and Rhéal II; several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his dog, Molly, and many friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Rhéal Goguen; his grandson, Joe Conner; his sister, Winnie Arsenault; his brother, Roméo Goguen; his nephew, Marc Goguen; and his great-nephew, Ryan Bartley.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Foyer St-Antoine for their kindness and special care.
Visitation will be held at Passage Funeral Home, 3754 Route 134, Shediac Bridge, NB, on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023, from 1 pm to 1:45 pm, followed by the service in the chapel at 2 pm.
Interment will follow the service at St-Pierre Parish Cemetery, Cocagne, NB.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Elmo’s memory to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
