In Loving Memory Of
Emery Léger
1918 ~ 2026

Moncton, NB – It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Emery Léger, at the age of 107, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Veterans Health Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Born in Cap-de-Cocagne, NB, on April 29, 1918, he was the husband of the late Laudia Léger (née Downing), with whom he shared over 71 years of marriage. He was the son of the late Edouard Léger and the late Emma Léger (née Goguen).

Emery is survived by his daughter, Cécile Surette (Charles) of Cap-de-Cocagne and sons: Rhéal Léger (Sylvia Ribble) of Dieppe, Bernard Léger (Lynn) and Jean Léger, both of Caissie Cape; He also leaves his grandchildren: Martin, Serge (Gabriella), Carole, Brian (Emilie), Christine (Creg), Wayne (Rémi), Noëlla (Niels) and Jean-Bernard, his great grandchildren: Mathis, Gabrielle, Tiago, Mélodie, Ariel, Lucas, Ryan, Mia and Jacob, his brothers, Roger (Jeannine) of Cap-de-Cocagne and Laurie (late Jeannette) of Leominster Mass, as well as a sister-in-law Germaine Léger of Shediac and several nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran of the Second World War, Emery served his country with dedication, working as a mechanic responsible for repairing military equipment before it was shipped overseas. Emery kept working as a mechanic till his retirement. At 107 years, he was recognized as the oldest living New Brunswicker, a distinction that reflected a life both long and well lived.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Laudia Léger (2021), daughter Lucille Léger (January 29, 2026), his sister, Rita and his brothers, Yvon, Edgar, Edmond and Armand.

No visitation will be held prior to the funeral. The funeral service will be held at La Visitation Church in Grande-Digue, on Tuesday, February 17th, 2026, at 11 am, followed by a reception at Notre Centre de Grande-Digue.

Interment will take place at La Visitation Parish Cemetery in Grande-Digue.
