In Loving Memory Of
Emile Goguen (Dupre)
1936 ~ 2023

Shediac, NB – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Emile Goguen (Dupre),86, on Sunday, September 17, 2023 with his wife by his side at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in Shediac, NB on October 20th, 1936. He was the son of the late Edmond and Rosanna Goguen (Cormier).

Emile will be dearly missed by his surviving wife of 46 years, Paula (Wells); his two sons: Jeffery and Rene (Kanako) both of Shediac; his daughter: Heather (Bender); 3 grandchildren: Megan, Sara and Mary and one step grandson: Farris all from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; his siblings: Ronald (late Dorothy) of Shediac, Claudette Karolyi of Halifax, NS, Maria Goguen of Montreal, QC and Jeannine Aldworth (Ron) of Barrie, ON; as well as his cousins and many nieces and nephews.

Emile was exceptional, he was proud, he loved to laugh and mostly he loved his family dearly.  As a young man, he became a pro-wrestler in 1955 in the US and then travelled the world. He then settled down in his beloved Shediac in the 70’s and then became a wrestling promoter with Grand Prix Wrestling. They travelled the Maritimes every summer. Spending over 30 years in the wrestling business he loved to entertained fans. After retiring from promoting in the 90’S, he went into real estate business.

Emile will be remembered as one of the greatest wrestler and promoters.

Respecting the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private Celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

  18. As a kid growing up in New Glasgow Nova Scotia, Sunday nights were working nights for Atlantic Grand Prix. My Dad, Brother, and Grandfather and me. Those were some of my favourite childhood memories. So much so, that I was able to turn those memories into a short story “When Wrestling Was Real”. During the school week, my friends and I spoke more about what happened on the Saturday TV tapings of Grand Prix more than we ever spoke of WWF. Emile’s contributions to entertainment in Atlantic Canada are significantly under-appreciated, and I hope the family knows how grateful we all are. We only ever heard of good things about Emile as a person and promoter. Merci pour les souvenirs. Condoléances à tous.

  19. With all the suffering you had to endure during your illness, you now deserve your eternal rest.
Tu resteras toujours dans nos pensées.
    Repose en paix. Maria

  23. Emile, may God accept you in the big ring in the sky. You were a shining star to the community in which you lived and my hope is that you are never forgotten.
An inspiration to the athletes you worked with and the stars in which you developed over the years to become strong and able sportsmen’s. It was a pleasure to have met, chatted and even worked with you over the years. Godspeed Dupre!
Sincere condolences to your entire family.

  24. my dear Brother, you were always nice to me & my family
We will miss you and you will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, you will no longer have to suffer. With lots of love from all of us.

  25. I only saw him a few times over the years (my fault), usually at the Bayou when I dropped in to have a beer. We would talk a little and he was always in good spirits, which gave me a boost. The last time I saw him was in the van at the Pointe du Chêne post office. We only talked for a bit, he told me that they were adjusting his medication because it was making him dizzy.
I’m cheering you right now Emile, at the Pump House with a Fire Chief’s Red beer or maybe two.
My deepest condolences to Paula, Jeff, Rene, Ronald and the rest of the family. What a great man. I will definitely miss him.

  26. It had been a pleasure to be a neighbor and friend to Emile and Paula. I have enjoyed listening to him tell his incredible story. His emphasis on Paula’s input as well as the love for his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and I offer my condolences to his wife and family.

  27. My deepest sympathy for your loss. May his memory be a Blessing and may he always live on in your hearts.
