Eric LeFort, 57, of Dieppe, passed away at the Moncton Hospital, surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, May 30th, 2007. Born in Cheticamp, Cape Breton, he was the son of Marie-Hélène LeFort and the late Joseph LeFort.
Eric owned the company Fax-Mart, and sold and installed cash registers and security systems throughout the Atlantic Provinces. Music was always a big part of Eric’s life, having learned to sing and play the guitar and mandolin at an early age and played in a Country and Western band the “Silver Five” for a number of years in Cape-Breton. Eric and his wife Louise attended bluegrass festivals during the summer months, where Eric enjoyed jamming with other musicians.
After being diagnosed with cancer in January 2006, Eric sought to help those in need afflicted with the disease by creating and selling a Bluegrass CD entitled “In Memory Of…” which comprised music and songs from 21 Maritime groups. He was most proud of the first song on the CD, “Our Hero” that he wrote in honor of Dr. Sheldon Rubin.
Eric is survived by his wife Louise (Perry) LeFort; daughter, Laura Lee Gay (Glenn) and granddaughter, Natasha; son Peter LeFort; step-daughter, Kiera Perry, step-sons: Kevin and Stephen Perry; sisters: Regina Deveau (Roy), Lisette Aucoin (Ronnie), Pierrette Roach (Daniel Bourgeois) and many nieces and nephews.
Eric was predeceased by his father Joseph in 2005 and son Joey in 1995.
There will be no visitation prior to the Memorial Service to be held at the Chartersville Funeral Home Chapel, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Monday, June 4th, 2007 at 10 am. A reception for Eric’s family and friends will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment in Chartersville Funeral Home Columbarium, Dieppe, NB.
