Born in Saint-Fabien, NB, he was the son of the late Henri and Marie Melanson (Léger).
Fernand will be sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Claudette Melanson (Collette) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; by his two daughters, Monique Bourque (Marcel) of Dieppe, Murielle Warman (Shawn) of Calgary, AB; by his three sons, Marc (Claire), Roger (Lise) and René (Lise) all of Dieppe; by his precious grandchildren, Samuel, Émilie, Luc, Simon, Chloé, Annie and Emma; by his three sisters, Irène Landry (Omer) of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, Ella Melanson of Moncton, Simone Jeffrey (Clarence) of Shediac; by his two brothers, Paul (Lola) of Moncton, Antoine of Moncton; by his brother-in-law, Laurie Nowlan of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; also by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Luc (1971), by his two sisters, Blanche Cormier, Dorilla Nowlan; by his two brothers, Albert and Léo.
He worked at the Moncton Foundry as a welder, a mechanic by trade he also worked at Nowlan Mill, Garage Auguste Léger, he also owned his own business, Garage à Fernand, he finished his career at "Pépinière Saint-Paul" Department of Natural Resources. He has been retired for 25 years, in his retirement he enjoyed camping, playing cards, bowling and cutting his own firewood. Fernand was a caring and helpful person who would help anyone in need.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Villa Providence, Shediac (Unité La Colombe) and to the staff of the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre for the wonderful care Fernand received while in their care.

Notre Dame-du-Mont Carmel Slumber Room, 2350 Route 515, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, NB on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 7:00 to 9:00pm on Thursday, February 18, 2016 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 6:45pm. Funeral Mass will be Notre Dame-du-Mont Carmel RC Church In Sainte-Marie-de-Kent on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 7:00pmDonations to the Alzheimer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
