  6. I only met Francis on one occasion, but he left a real impression of a great man with strong character. I became an amateur radio operator in January, 2017 and was interested in getting a telegraph key to learn Morse Code (or CW as we would say). He had a key available, actually an iambic paddle to be exact, and we met in Amherst. He was a kind and knowledgeable man, who offered advice without imposing it on you. I’ve still got that paddle and will never part with it. I didn’t realize he worked for Radio Canada, but my Dad spent his career with the CBC, so we probably had more in common than the obvious. I hope Francis’ family, friends and colleagues will accept my sincere condolences on his passing. God Bless him and he will surely be missed by many.
