Dieppe, N.-B – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gaetan “Gadget” Allain, shortly after Christmas, at the young age of 48, that occurred on Wednesday, January 4th, 2023, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre.

Born in Moncton, he was the son of Ronald Allain and Anne-Marie Allain (Boucher).

Gaetan had a very contagious personality that could be felt as soon as you met him. He had many hobbies, including music, travelling, going for cruises, and most of all, he loved his family and his friends unconditionally. He worked as a Correctional Officer at the Shediac Prison, and he was also well known as a Radio Announcer.  

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Eva (Blanchard) Allain of Dieppe; his parents: Ronald and Anne-Marie Allain of Dieppe; his son, Yanik Allain of Dieppe; his stepson, Jonathan Richard (Sonia Richard) of Aldouane and his stepdaughter, Julie Richard of Dieppe; his sister, Stephanie (Martin) Bourque of Moncton; his two nieces: Zoe (which Gaetan was her godfather) and Maya and one step nephew, Alexi Bourque; his aunts and uncles: Charline (Donald) Haché of Richibouctou-Village, Norman (Diane) Allain of Bouctouche, Doris (Normand) Allain of Saint-Joseph-de-Kent and Jeannette (Aubrey) Allain of Richibouctou-Village; his mother-in-law, Baselice Blanchard of Pointe-Sapin; his two brothers-in-law: Elmo (Nancy) Blanchard of Saint-Charles and Bernard (Rachel) Blanchard of Pointe-Sapin; his two best friends: Yvon Richard and Paul Vautour; the mother of his son, Rachel Richard, several cousins, as well as several step nieces and step nephews. He was also godfather to Mireille Allain-Richard and to Janelle Comeau.

He was predeceased by his maternal grand parents: Emile and Maria Boucher, his paternal grand parents: Acquilla and Bernadette Allain, and his father-in-law, Romeo Blanchard.


Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative (363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, E1A 1G1, 506-857-1901) on Monday, January 9, from 1pm to 3pm only. Funeral mass will be held at the Ste-Thérèse-de-l’Enfant-Jésus Roman Catholic Church, on Monday, January 9 at 3:30 pm.

The family wishes to express their gratitude toward the staff of the Saint-John Regional Hospital, the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, and the oncology department, for the great care and compassion given to Gaetan during his illness.
