Shediac, NB – Gaétan LeBlanc, 57, passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital Centre of Moncton, NB, on Thursday, March 10th, 2022.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was the son of Aldor LeBlanc, and Colombe LeBlanc born Leger.
Gaétan had a big heart. He loved deeply, so much it hurt. Relationships and adventures were his passions.
Besides his parents, Gaétan will be dearly missed by his loving partner, Ginette Roy of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; one daughter, Sarah LeBlanc of Saint-John, NB; his step son, Zachary LeBlanc; one step daughter, Emily LeBlanc both of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent; two brothers, Conrad LeBlanc of Shediac and Gilles LeBlanc (Jeanne) of Grand Barachois; three sisters, Janice LeBlanc (Raymond Allain) of Cocagne, Murielle LeBlanc (Frank) of Shediac Cape and Monette LeBlanc of Dieppe; three nieces, Tasha Thibodeau, Janel Boudreau and Kristel Boudreau; as well as six nephews, Luc LeBlanc, Daniel LeBlanc, Mathieu LeBlanc, Jérémie LeBlanc, Damien Beaulieu and Patrick Beaulieu.
Living on the edge, pushing limits always, he embraced challenges and opportunities and relished the thrill of the experience. His was a world of fast and fancy cars, downhill skiing, scuba diving, biking, snowmobiling, golfing, hockey and so much more. Gaétan loved Shediac. He particularly loved the bay and spent most his summers enjoying it. He also loved the people of Shediac, the vibe of the community and he had friends from all walks of life. And no one doubts that Gaétan’s passion was sailing. His exceptional storytelling skills kept us entertained with his adventures of sailing to the Caribbeans or racing on the Northumberland Strait. How he loved to make us laugh. And those who had the privilege to be crewing on a sailboat race with him saw Gaétan at his best. But there was also the quiet contemplative Gaétan. With the heart of an artist, he approached the smallest car detailing project or a grandeur home decor challenge with finesse and creativity. And he shared his talents generously even if all he had to give was his time. And finally, there was the Gaétan that a few of us were privileged to know. We are the ones that will recall those quiet moments shared on a sunset sail or gazing at the stars by the campfire. These are the memories that will linger in our hearts. Farewell Gaétan, we will miss your stories, your generosity, and your good humour, but most of all we will remember your big heart and gentle soul.
In respect of Gaétan’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Funeral service will be held from Saint-Joseph Roman Catholic Church of Shediac on Friday, April 1st, 2022 at 4pm.
Gaétan is now resting besides his little niece, Jani LeBlanc.
