Born in Round Hill, Alberta, he was the son of the late Alvin A. and Eva Marie (Bosmans) LaBelle.
George served with RCAF, 425 Squadron during the Second World War in Britain and North Africa. He was a graduate of the Nova Scotia Agricultural College in Truro and McGill University in Montreal. He worked in community economic development in the co-operative and credit union sector for many years. George also served on many Co-operative and Credit Union Boards including the Co-Operators, Coop Atlantic, Coop Centre Moncton, Advance Savings Credit Union and Passage Funeral Co-operative for many years.
Besides his loving wife, Agnes, George is survived by his son, Joseph (Jocelyne) of Moncton; his brother, Stanley of Calmar, Alberta; his sister, Marie Allan of North Vancouver, BC; his three grandchildren, Alexandre of Petawawa, ON, Carolyne of Kingston, ON and Jennifer Kane of Saint John, NB.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Alvin of Edmonton, AB and by his sister, Kathleen Dowler of Peterborough, ON.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Friday, October 12th, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and from 7:00 – 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will be at the St. Pierre de Cocagne RC Church on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the parish cemetery. No visitation on Saturday morning. A lunch will be served at Passage in Shediac Bridge.
Donations to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
