George Klomfass, 79, of Bouctouche, has passed away peacefully at the Saint-John Regional Hospital, on Sunday October 8, 2017. He was married to Erika (Reisser) Klomfass. Born in Bischofsburg, Germany, he was the son of the late Johannes and the late Albertine (Kiwitt) Klomfass.
George first started his career as a Butcher in Germany and made the best sausages, he then went on to be the owner/operator of a restaurant in the Black Forest region of Germany for 25 years. Being a fabulous cook, he moved to Canada and became the owner/operator of the Bouctouche Bay Inn for 20 years and after he was owner/operator of the Bed and Breakfast Erika’s Suite for 12 years.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Erika, his three children; Johannes of France, Kirsten and Uwe both of Germany, two grandchildren Sibel and Julie as well as a sister Brigitta of Germany.
Visitations will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l’église, Bouctouche on Friday October 13, 2017 from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Saint-Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church, Bouctouche on Friday October 13, 2017 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
In George’s memory, donation may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
