Georges Maillet, 89, of Sainte-Marie-de Kent, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the UHC Dr Georges L Dumont, Moncton on Tuesday January 17, 2017. He was married to Alfreda (Roy) Maillet. Born in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, he was the son of the late Antoine and the late Imelda (Poirier) Maillet.
Georges was a very proud farmer and he also served on several community organizations.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Alfreda, his six children; Denise Shean (Todd) of Ottawa, Marie-Thérèse Hébert (Jean-Guy), Pierrette Nowlan (Raymond), Lucie Maillet (special friend Adrien Babineau), Maurice (Maria) and André (Linda) all of Sainte-Marie-de-Kent, nine grandchildren; Jacques, Denis, Pierre, Marie-Josée, Mireille, Justin, Martin, Patrick and Daniel and four great grandchildren; Vincent, Julianne, Sophie and Janie. He also leaves to mourn two sisters; Sr Sarah Maillet s.h.s.j. of Bathurst and Antoinette Dallaire of Maynard MA, as well as several nephews and nieces, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by one son Gerard (1958), his adoptive parents; Alyre Ouellet and Célina Maillet, and three brothers; Henri, Jean and Paul.
Visitations will be held at the Notre-Dame du Mont Carmel Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Sainte-Marie-de-Kent on Thursday January 19, 2017 from 7 to 9 and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 5:30 to 6:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at the Sainte-Marie-de-Kent Church on Friday January 20, 2017 at 7:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery in the spring.
In Georges’s memory, donations may be made to the Sainte-Marie-de-Kent Parish Fund or to the Knights of Columbus «Education Fund».
