Moncton – Georgina Daigle, 86, passed away peacefully at the Pro Tem Nursing Home in Moncton on August 15, 2007. Born in Acadieville on November 28, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Luc Daigle and the late Lucie Barrieault.
She lived in Miramichi for 69 years.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Arthur Vautour of Gardner, Mass., 13 nephews and 13 nieces, several great-nephews and great-nieces, as well as countless friends mainly in the Miramichi area. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters: Albertine, Ernestine and Alice and her brothers: Edmond, baby Émile and Émile. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
After having worked 20 years as a baby sitter and maid for Dr. Sproul in Miramichi, she had a successful 25 year career in the women’s clothing business with Lounsbury in Miramichi. To improve her knowledge, she took numerous correspondence courses. After her retirement, she took an active part in the Miramichi community life by being a member of the Carrefour Beausoleil choir and the St. Mary’s Parish Choir. She was also a member of the Bereavement Committee of the St. Mary’s Parish. Her family and friends will always remember her outstanding interpersonal skills, her exceptional liveliness, her passion for business and good health, her determination, her conscientiousness and her infectious laugh.
The family wishes to thank the considerate, compassionate and qualified staff of the O Bons Soins Nursing Home in Shediac and of the Pro Tem Nursing Home in Moncton who have so well taken care of Georgina’s well-being and happiness during the last three years.
Visitation will be held from Immaculate Conception Funeral Salon, Acadieville, NB, on Thursday, August 16, 2007, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7pm to 9 pm and also on Friday from 10 am until time of service.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Acadieville, on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 11 am.
Interment in the Parish Cemetery, Acadieville, NB.
Donations to the Parish of Acadieville for the maintenance of the cemetery or to the church would be appreciated by the family.
