Grande-Digue, NB – Gérald Downing, 76, passed away peacefully at the Manoir St-Jean Baptiste in Bouctouche on Thursday, February 19, 2015 after a lengthy illness.

Born in Grande-Digue, NB, he was the son of the late Patrick and late Florida (Brun) Downing.

Gérald will be sadly missed by his wife, Claudette ( nee LeBlanc); his three sons, Barry (Brigitte) of Hawkesbury, ON, Glen of Grande-Digue and Darryl (Alexis) of Notre-Dame-de-l’Ile-Perrot, QC; his two brothers, Edward (Thérèse) and Alonzo (Phyllis), all of Grande-Digue; his six sisters, Jeannine Léger (late Joe) of Toronto, ON, Léa Cormier (late Edward) of Grande-Digue, Maria Cormier (Fernand) of Shediac, Stella Cloutier (late Gilbert) of Moncton, Claira Léger (late Freddie) of Grande-Digue and Yvette Downing (Derek Montgomery) of Mahone Bay, NS; his three grandchildren, Patrick, Kyra and Gabriel; also by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Alberta.

Visitations will be at Passage in Shediac Bridge, on Tuesday, February 24, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm, and on Wednesday, February 25, from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be at La Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Grande-Digue, on Wednesday, February 25 at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank the management and staff of the Manoir St-Jean-Baptiste in Bouctouche (where Gerry resided for the past five years) for their kindness and generosity.
