Gerard Bastarache, 79, of Cocagne passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Stella Maris de Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne-de-Kent on Monday April 15, 2019. He was married to the late Jeannita (Boudreau) Bastarache (2017). Born in Cocagne, he was the son of the late Adelard and the late Hélèna (Allain) Bastarache.
Gerard was a 3rd degree Knights of Columbus, counsel 6837 Cocagne.
He will be sadly missed by his two daughters; Linda Bastarache (Gilles DesMarais) of Cocagne and Brenda Bastarache (Brian) of Saint-Gregoire, his three grandchildren; Joey (Chantal), Melissa and Dominic as well as two great grandchildren; Maxime and Annika and several nephews and nieces.
Gerard was predeceased by one sister Simone, and four brothers; Father Yvon, Roger, Normand and Robert.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Cocagne on Thursday April 18, 2019 from 1 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Cocagne Church on Thursday April 18 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Gerard’s memory donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Lupus Foundation of Canada.
