It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Germaine Melanson, 88, that occurred on October 23rd, 2024, at Faubourg du Mascaret, Pavillon Landry in Moncton.
Born on February 8th, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Sylvain Basque and the late Imelda (Rousselle) Basque.
Germaine was originally from Lagaceville but lived in Moncton most of her life. Germaine worked at Villa du Repos for many years, was a great believer and served her parish for many years with the Ladies Auxiliary. Germaine was very warm and welcoming, especially to members of her two large families, and spent much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She traveled extensively with her family, enjoyed music and a good game of cards.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Bernard Melanson of Dieppe; her three daughters: Louise Melanson of Dieppe, Joanne (Royce) Wilson of Moncton, and Charline (Bruce) MacDonald of Dartmouth; her four grandchildren: Lucille (Marc), Monique (Rory), Kelsey (Nick), and Brandon (Brittany); her five great grandchildren: Jasmine, Lilliahnna, Neveah, Emerson, and Mercedes; her two brothers: Gilbert (Claudia) of Riverview, and Euclide (Marie-Anna) of Neguac; her six sisters: Sylvia (late Emile) Robichaud of Dieppe, Sister Alphonsine Basque of Montreal, Stella MacDonald (late Ralph) of Dieppe, Anne Basque of Moncton, Laudia (Aldoria) Allain of Neguac, and Jeanneda (late Jean-Guy) Saulnier of Dieppe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Melanson (2012); her three sisters: Lumina (Medley), Emma (Edmond), and Celina (Wilfred); as well as her two brothers: Freddy, and Norbert.
Visitation will be held from Passage-Chartersville Funeral Cooperative, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, E1A 1G1, 506-857-1901, on Friday, November 1st, from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm only. Funeral mass will be held from St-Anselme RC Church, Dieppe, on Saturday, November 2nd, at 11 am.
If desired, a donation in memory of Germaine can be made to the Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s society.
The family would like to thank the staff of Le Faubourg du Mascaret, Pavillon Landry, for all their care, kindness and affection shown to our mother during her stay.
