LÉGER, GERTRUDE 1924 … 2011 Gertrude Léger, 87, of Autumn Lee Retirement Home, Moncton and formerly of Saint-Paul, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital, Moncton on Sunday October 30th, 2011. She was married to the late David Leger (1995). Born in South Nelson, Miramichi on August 18th, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Peter and the late Annie (Nowlan) Whalen.
She will be sadly missed by her eight children; Joyce Hamm (Ralph) of Saint John, Rita Léger (Roger Collette) of Bouctouche, Annette Peters (Herbie) of Canaan Station, Armand (Béatrice), James, Paul-Emile (Gloria), and Alcide (Diane) of Saint-Paul, and Ernest (Gisele) of Grande-Digue, her twenty three grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her three sisters, Elsie Stewart (George) of Vancouver, BC, Yvonne Stewart of Harcourt, and Therese Whiley (Gordon) of Kent Junction, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four daughters, Pauline, Evelyne, Liliane and Jeannine, one sister Kay one brother Doug and her step-mother Léa (Chevarie) Whalen.
Visitations will be held at the Saint-Paul de Kent Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Saint-Paul on Tuesday November 1st, 2011 from 2 to 3:45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at the Saint-Paul Church on Tuesday November 1st, 2011 at 4:00 pm with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Gertrude’s memory donations can be made to the Diabetes Association.
