It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Gilles Robichaud, 76, at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre in Moncton with his family by his side, on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.
Born in Rexton, NB, he was the son of the late Valery and the late Thérèse Robichaud (Blanchard), and his stepmother, the late Adlessa Robichaud (Richard).
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Julie-Anne Thébeau-Robichaud; his daughters, Claire Robichaud (Eric Gionet) and Sophie Robichaud (Jason Nadeau), of Dieppe; and his grandchildren, Rémi, Valérie and Dax; his sisters, Marie-Paule Daigle (Ernest) of Saint-Charles and Aline Daigle (late George) of Richibucto; as well as his nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and friends.
Before his retirement in 2013, Gilles worked in several fields. He worked at Kouchibouguac National Park in finance, at United Maritime Fisherman (UMF) as manager of the Richibucto plant and was a co-owner of a weekly newspaper. He retired after 23 years at Imperial Manufacturing Group (IMG) in Richibucto where he held various responsibilities in transportation, customs, energy, purchasing, inventory and traffic management.
After retirement, he worked part-time for Vestiaire Saint-Joseph Inc. / Shediac Food Bank and for Soccer Dieppe.
He was involved in various organizations, including the Richibucto Lions Club (life member), the Richibucto Church Choir, the Richibucto Port Authority and the Kent Industrial Commission.
Beyond all that, the most precious thing for Gilles was his family. He was an exceptional husband and father. Gilles would have done anything for his daughters; he was always there to help when needed. And he loved spending time with them.
Gilles was a loving and dedicated grandfather. He had the joy of playing with his three grandchildren and had a precious bond with each one of them. He was very present and involved in their everyday lives.
He was the happiest when he spent time with his family. Gilles was an extraordinary man in his great simplicity.
He was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, George Daigle (Aline), Hervé Bastarache (Germaine), Jean Thébeau (Nicole Richard), Florent Thébeau (Cathy) and Louis-Émile Thébeau.
His in-laws mourn his passing; Germaine Bastarache (late Hervé), Marie & Bob Watson, Jeannine & Bill Wedge, Alice Thébeau & Gérard LeBlanc, Rachelle Thébeau & Alain Roberge, Alexandre Thébeau.
Gilles was an exceptional brother-in-law to the Thébeau family.
Whether with the Robichaud family or the Thébeau family, he was always ready to help, support and find solutions, in the greatest discretion.
Gilles was a quiet force.
Visitation will be held at Passage-Chartersville, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB E1A 1G1 (506) 857.1901, on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 3:50 pm. The celebration will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice.
